Proven Ways To Get Your Stress Under Control

Family Chiropractic

Who isn’t stressed these days? Actually, stress has become a normal part of every day that it has become a norm to be stressed out too. Although the demands of daily living are what’s making people so tensed all the time, it is also the reason why we shouldn’t let ourselves be taken over by it. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to live productively.

It would have been great if we can control everything in life so that everything goes according to plan. This means there wouldn’t be any problem and nothing will stress you out. But, that’s not how it works. However, this doesn’t also mean that just because life is a one big roller coaster ride, you’ll just let yourself be eaten by stress. Here are some ways to help you ease up when you feel like you can’t take it anymore.

Exercise Some Relaxation Techniques

We could try really hard but we can’t avoid stress altogether. But we can do some relaxation tricks to keep our stress level at a minimum. Diaphragmatic breathing, yoga, or music therapy help calm the nervous system so we don’t get consumed with tension.

Eat Dark Chocolate

If it’s chocolate that you always crave for when you want a snack, opting for dark ones is the way to go especially when you’ve been feeling down or been stressed out lately. They aren’t as loaded with sugar and calories but they’re just as good in boosting your mood. Plus they’re rich in antioxidants, so it’s a win-win, though moderation is still key.

Sweat It Out

Exercise is defined as any movement that makes your muscles work and requires your body to burn calories. There are many types of physical activity, including swimming, running, jogging, walking and dancing, to name a few. Being active has been shown to have many health benefits, both physically and mentally. This is why it’s also an effective way to combat stress! Your body’s chemistry gets balanced out as well when you get chiropractic adjustment, combine that with working out which releases body chemicals called endorphins and you become less prone to seasonal depression. It improves your hormone balance by decreasing bad hormones and increasing good hormones. As a result, you are more likely to be happier since your body becomes calmer.

Engage Your Limbic System And Sense Of Smell

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Physiologically, they trigger the olfactory nerve, which is connected to our “emotional brain” and limbic system, and that controls heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, mood, stress, hormonal balance, and more. Making it a habit to use essential oils during a massage or a bubble bath can have a powerful healing effect on us emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Take A Musical Interlude

Do not underestimate the power of taking a break while listening to some music. Grab a pair of headphones, kick back in your chair, close your eyes and listen to some great music for fifteen minutes. It doesn’t matter what you listen to as long as it helps you relax. But don’t confuse this to listening music while working. Sometimes, you just gotta stop what you’re working on especially if it’s something that’s making you go crazy and really get lost with the music. When you’re done, you’ll see that your head will feel clearer and lighter.

Yoga

The slow, mindful movements of yoga ease muscle tension and stress, which are very helpful when it comes to maintaining a healthy overall wellbeing. This mind-body practice is also effective for improving sleep, which can lead to a decrease in headaches and all kinds of stress. Also, yoga therapy, in combination with other therapy, allows your body and mind build a better and healthier way to respond to stress.

Sleep

Lack of sleep isn’t something to be overlooked. It’s important for everyone to get sleep and wake up well rested because when you do, you feel better, look better, and work better. However, the problem is that more and more people are having a hard time get proper shut eye which not only lead to poor performance in general but as well as health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, memory problems, weight gain, headaches, impotence and an impaired immune system. Sleep helps your body regenerate much needed overall energy and keep your hormone levels up. So basically, sleeping is your body’s way of going into repair mode which helps you fight off stress effectively.

Shift Your Thoughts

Having a positive mindset can go a long way. Remember how your mind controls every function of your body? That can be very accurate. Like if you think you can push through your pain and workout to lose weight or decide that you will no longer let worries stress you out, you can and you will. Just by thinking you can do better helps shift your health. So when you catch yourself thinking negatively, stop yourself immediately. Think of something positive instead.

Try Chiropractic Care

Stress isn’t just stress. There are actually different ways to be anxious than we’d prefer. It also helps to distinguish the type of stress that you’re experiencing in order to figure out the appropriate counter measure. Mental stress is usually what really takes a toll on one’s well being. While some may argue that emotional stress is more dire, it’s actually the over thinking that fuels it. Physical stress, on the other hand, could come from jobs that require more physical work, just like construction workers. But even deskbound jobs where employees who sit all day could experience the same stress. So, if your body is being contained in one position or exerting a lot of force throughout the day, then it’s not surprising that you feel tired every day. While emotional stress can be hard to define. This is because different people react differently to the same situations. For example, someone died in the family; some would be hysterical but others could remain calm and collected. However, the different reaction doesn’t mean one is going through less pain than the other, this just shows that we recuperate differently to the stressors we face no matter the intensity of it.

But good thing is that chiropractic care can help manage your stress no matter what type it is. How? Well, first, it corrects misalignments in your body. When there are subluxations in the spine, it sends a ‘pain’ signal in to the brain which could put the entire body in tension. Chiropractors can work on your spine to correct those misalignments through manual adjustments. Doctors of chiropractic are also trained in the nutritional field. So, they can also educate you about proper nutrition and give recommendations to help you go back on track when it comes to your diet. They also offer other therapies because sometimes, when all else fails, therapy don’t. It helps the mind and body to clear agony that is causing you to be buried in stress. Lastly, chiropractic also helps you develop a healthy response to stress. Just like what they say, we can’t control what life throws in our way but we can choose how to respond to it. Chiropractic, for that matter, can teach you how react in a way that isn’t destructive to you. As a result, stress will be less likely to cause physical damage.
